3 Things 2017 Taught Me: Pt.1

I cannot believe we are already at the end of 2017. This year has been full of new experiences for me as I started blogging (again) and coaching. So for the next few posts I’m going to share with you, three things that I’ve learned in 2017. Numero uno…

People are watching you.

(insert spooky music)

When I started blogging and making videos on YouTube, I would always get comments and questions from the blog communities I was involved in. I loved the creativity and inspiration each blogger supplied. I could always count on them to retweet, comment and share my posts that resonated with them. I knew that if I had just one view on my YouTube video, it was probably one of my blog sisters lol.

So imagine my surprise when I ran into someone I had not seen for almost a decade and she hugged me and said, “OMG! I LOVE your blog!” I had no clue she was even reading it. I receive emails from people I haven’t seen or spoke to in forever, letting me know that they admire what I’m doing and that a post I wrote really helped them.

I have learned that whether they say it or not, people are watching you.

You have silent supporters. You have admirers near and far.

We live in a world where everything is fighting for our attention. Because of the advancement of technology, our attention spans have shortened. So much is being presented to us that, after a few minutes, we’re over it and ready to move on to the next thing. A.D.D. is real!

Being able to grab someone’s attention in 2017 is a gift!

I want to continue to provide content that resonates with you and incites you to change. 2017 has taught me that this platform and this space that I have been given, should be cherished, honored and used right; not to push my own agenda but to impact and influence lives for the better.

Because you’re watching me and I’m going to give you something worth watching.

XOXO – Coach Christine

  2. I loved this because I learnt a very similar lesson this year (having silent supporters). I spent so long focussing on who wasn’t there for me rather than those who were. Great post!

  3. Great post! I had that experience last week. One of my high school classmates said that she was proud of me and watched all of my Facebook Live videos. I was surprised because of the low views. I was amazed at that.

  4. Absolutely! Similar things have also happened to me. And it’s mostly been old teachers or bosses lol. Congrats to you though!

Keeping in mind that people are watching (and sending positive vibes and support) is so necessary, especially since we sometimes judge success off of shares, comments, and other things. But there is a such thing as online introverts…I think, and it’s just good to know we’re reaching them.
